Meetings and Procedures
A. Regular monthly meeting of the board shall be held at the administrative office on the second Wednesday of each month, or on such other day as the board may fix by action taken at a regular meeting. The commencing time of said regular meetings shall be 7:00 P.M. C.S.T. unless there is another time designated by the board. The meetings will begin sharply at the specified time if a quorum is present.
B. Special Meetings
Special meetings may be called by the president or by any two members of the board. Written or printed notice of a special meeting shall be given to each member of the board, provided, however, that the attendance at any meeting without objection, by any member, shall constitute a waiver of the notice required to be given to such member. C. Quorum
Any board meeting with three members present shall constitute a duly convened meeting of the board and all action taken at such meetings shall be as effective as though all members of the board were in attendance.
D. Presiding Officer
The president shall preside at the meeting, which shall be conducted according to recognized rules of order. In the absence of the president, the vice-president shall conduct the meeting.
E. Business Manager
The business manager shall attend all meetings of the school board, and is responsible for maintaining proper records.
F. Superintendent of School
The superintendent of schools shall be in attendance at all meetings unless his own status is being considered, or other duties necessitate his absence. The superintendent of schools shall prepare a list of the items he desires to be considered at the meeting. This information shall be in the school board member file prior to meeting time. Any member of the school board may bring up any other matter for discussion or consideration.
G. Revision of Policies
(1) Policies may be revised, added to, or amended, at a regular meeting of the board by a majority vote of the members. Proposed amendments may be voted upon at any meeting subsequent to their presentation.
(2) The school board shall meet as a committee of the whole at least once a year to review and appraise existing policies.
(3) The school board shall notify all employees whenever revisions, additions, amendments, and deletions are made.
H. Compensation of Members
Each member of the school board may receive not in excess of one hundred dollars as compensation for each meeting of the board actually attended by individual board member. In addition thereto, each member may be reimbursed for all necessary meals and lodging and travel expense actually incurred by him while engaged on official business of the board, at the same rate as provided for state officers and employees. Any mileage claimed shall not exceed the number of miles between the points traveled as measured by the most usual route. (15-29-05)
